In the previous article – “Determination of the brick characteristics “, we have analyzed such concepts as – strength or grade, water absorption, frost resistance, thermal conductivity, density. Today we will go a little deeper and increase our knowledge in ordinary ceramic products. Particularly, let’s talk about the name and designation of products.
There are several product names:
- Ordinary hollow ceramic brick of normal format;
- Ceramic ordinary hollow thickened brick (1.35 NF);
- Ceramic ordinary hollow stone (2,00 NF);
- Ceramic ordinary hollow stone (2,12NF);
- Large-format ceramic stone (now we do not make it).
And so, what does “1.35 NF”, “2.00 NF”, “2.12 NF” mean? Abbreviation “NF” – means a normal shape, so it is a standard brick, which has the following dimensions:
- length – 250 mm;
- width – 120 mm;
- thickness / height – 65 mm.
- “1.35 NF” – means that the thickness / height of the brick is 35% thicker / higher than that of normal bricks. The length and width of “Ceramic ordinary hollow thickened brick (1.35 NF)” did not change from the size of “NF”.
- “2.00 NF” – means that the thickness / height of the brick is 100% thicker / higher (2 times thicker / higher) than normal bricks. The length and width of the “Ceramic ordinary hollow stone (2.00 NF)” has not changed from the size of the “NF”.
- “2.12 NF” – means that the thickness / height of the brick is 112% thicker / higher than that of normal bricks. The length and width of the “Ceramic ordinary hollow stone (2.12 NF)” has not changed from the size of the “NF”.
Some deviations are allowed in the sizes.
